BOTSWANA FINES SPEED LIMIT POLICE

As an alert to anyone driving in Botswana

specially near (less than 150 km ) border with other countries.

Happened to me and I´ve heard many other tourists mentioning this.

Botswana police is very strict on speed limits in city limits.

It happens that even if the city is like 3 or 4 kilometers away from the road, even so there are 80 and then 60 km/h marks.

So often they install a very disguised radar (I´ve seen one situation where the police car was simply in the middle of the bushes, so almost impossible to notice)

Obbey it - totally.

Fines can go up to US$ 80,00.

Of course Botswana people has the right to decide what is more important for their safety.

But it´s funny to see HUNDREDS of animals free to walk on the roads, to cross it. NO inforcement about security belt and other safety measures.

It is all about speed control near cities.

SO TAKE CARE, DRIVE SAFELY AND REDUCE SPEED WHEN SIGNS SAY THAT
